ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Chris Dirks. I started Kea Studios to make data easier for people to use in the real world, not just in labs. I’ve always liked mixing design and programming, and honestly, I just enjoy making cool things.

Back in high school I went from building robots and eco-houses, to 3D printers, and now I’m focused on creating tools that help people get and visualise data. I’m also a bit of a train nerd; I love the engineering, the history, and the way they connect people and places.

I’m in my early twenties and based in Auckland. I’m a bit of a jack of all trades: I love designing products end-to-end, from drawing up circuit boards in KiCad, to 3D printing mechanical parts I’ve modelled in Fusion 360, to writing firmware in C++ and backend server code in TypeScript. For me, the fun is in bringing all the pieces together and making something useful.
